The city of Helotes is located in Bexar County, Texas. It is a small community northwest of San Antonio and is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels, Texas, metro area. As of the 2020 census, its population was 9,030. Its economy is dependent on agriculture, and its residents are largely Latino.

In 1880, his heirs sold the property to a Swiss immigrant named Arnold Gugger. He built a mercantile store and a home on the site. In 1908, Bert Hileman opened the town's first dance hall. The town also had a saloon.

The city has a population of approximately 28,000 people. The median household income is significantly above the state average. The city also has a high graduation rate. It is a tight-knit community.
